New Library of the Advocate General of the State in Palazzo Sant'Agostino
The Attorney General of the State has expressed the need to equip the "hall of the Chapter" (library), located on the first floor of the Palazzo di Sant'Agostino, with low shelves for the arrangement of books. The hall is an important testimony of the architecture of the architect Vanvitelli.
The project plans to intervene with a consolidation of the vault in order to improve structural performance both from the point of view of loads and for an adaptation to seismic actions. The functional scheme involves the creation of 12 two-faced shelves positioned on the sides of the room, which allow full enjoyment of the architecture and offer a high development of linear meters of floor. Between the shelves alternate the reading tables (existing) and the connecting passages to the adjacent environments. The scheme proposed respects the architecture of the room, the decorations of the walls and vaults strictly following the score of the pilasters and the bands to the ceiling.
